If you wish to taken an exam (very much optional) then you will need the correct regulation MBS uniform so please ask for more information or visit the Uniform page on this website.

You are welcome to choose between the five types of class or join us for more than one depending on your goals and if you would like to come along and try us out, contact Tina who will be happy to advise you further.

Exam Opportunities
Murilova is very proud to have a 100% pass rate in their exams across the school. For some, working towards an end goal is important, for others it is more about the journey. Therefore, taking Classical Ballet exams are completely optional for children and adults and students continue to dance with their classmates no matter whether they wish to take the exam or not.
There is also a series of solo Medal tests and group Rainbow awards catering for all age groups and abilities, which focus on performance style and technique.

Please see the individual page for more information.

Performance Opportunities
Murilova Ballet School prides itself on providing equal performance opportunities for our children and adult students. We do encourage students to take part in all performance opportunities, however they are always optional, but for the vast majority they are the highlight of the year.

Each member of the school is invited to participate in our annual End Of Term Display, which brings the Murilova family together at the end of the summer term, in celebration of all the student’s dancing achievements.

We also have a bi-annual production, which allows all of our students the opportunity to perform on stage in a wonderful local theatre. The premise of a ‘From-Scratch’ production is that a well-known classical ballet is adopted, shortened and adapted to perform with costumes and lighting on stage for a supportive audience. Some choreography remains true to the professional repertoire that Tina performed during her career, but some is adapted to suit the talents of our dancers. The rehearsals are almost completely done within the students’ usual class time for the duration of just over half a term, with the show being put together in the theatre on the day of the performance. Past shows have included ‘Sleeping Beauty From Scratch’, ‘The Nutcracker From Scratch’ and ‘Coppelia From Scratch’. Each dancer is provided a beautiful costume for just a £15 hire fee.

Teacher Training
Once students have reached Intermediate and 17 yrs of age, they are able to train for their first teaching qualification. Tina has recently successfully trained Bethanie Hayes and Carly Booker for their Associate Teachers Qualification, both passing with Distinction. Bethanie now dances professionally and teaches ballet and contemporary projects, whilst Carly has contiued to dance and teach with MBS alongside setting up her own ballet classes at Longfleet Primary School.

Once the Associate level and the higher ballet grades have been passed then teachers can also train for the Licentiate and Fellowship exams which allows them to teach students the entire NATD syllabus in a range of environments, including professinal companies.

Contemporary
Contemporary classes offer an exploration of a range of contemporary techniques and are suitable for anyone with a love of dance and those interested in improving their dance ability, being creative and having fun! There are two classes available on Wednesday evenings and these are open to all children and adults, whether you do any other dance style or not. These classes do not follow a syllabus, so do not work towards exams, but all students have the opportunity to be involved in our shows throughout the year.
